"Outdoor Adventure School" provides accredited programming in a wilderness classroom. Texas State University
has partnered with us conducting research and conservation projects on threatened and endangered species. Dr. Tim Bonner,
is the Director of Aquatic Biology at Texas State.
He is teaching an ichthyology course studying freshwater
sponges, minnows and darters at Sycamore Canyon Ranch, The Nature Conservancy's Dolan Falls Preserve, and the Devils River
State Natural Area.
During this class, Dr. Bonner and his research team also conducted mortality studies
in a sensitive spring fed pool that's home to the Rio Grande
Darter and Devils River Minnow.
The "Outdoor Adventure School" is a subsidiary of Expedition Outfitters,
in partnership with Sycamore Canyon Ranch Ltd.
The "Outdoor Adventure School" recently hosted a field class from the Outdoor Recreation
Department at Trinity University, San Antonio Texas. The Trinity "Canoe Corps" paddled almost seventeen miles on
a day trip. We put them in at San Pedro Point, at the Devils River State Natural Area "Del Norte Unit". They
made their way through many portages including a class IV drop at Dolan Falls. They also braved their way through low
river flow levels and many serious obstacles. The Trinity Team ended up at the New Devils River State Natural Area "Big
Satan Unit." Please see video below.
